Jessica Steen
Jessica Steen
is a Canadian actress in both film and television. She is renowned for her
performances in Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, Homefront, Earth
2, Armageddon, Left Behind World at War, NCIS, Flashpoint as well as the CBC
series Heartland. Jessica Steen was born in Toronto, Ontario, the daughter of
Joanna Noyes, an actress, and Jan Steen, a director and actor. Steen is
Scottish and Dutch-American. Steen is an advocate for animal rights as well as
an environmentalist in addition to her entertainment business. Steen has a
strong support for David Suzuki, the World Society for the Protection of
Animals as well as the Western Canadian Wilderness Committee. She is an
accredited diver, and has a solid foundation in several circus arts, such as
stilt-walking, fire-twirling and stilt-walking. At the age of eight, Steen was
cast in her first appearance on the Canadian children's television show The Sun
runners, co-starring with her mother. She played Tracy Gordon, Tracy's
daughter, in the TV film Young Again (1986). In 1987, she was the only female
character on the syndicated show Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future,
which ran for one season. In 1988, she was awarded the Gemini Award for her
performance in the episode Captain Power's "Judgment". In 1987, she
played the Tracy Steel grave on THE WISEGUY. In 1989, Steen broke onto the big
screen in the movie musical Sing.
